Comparison of Physical Fitness, Isokinetic Muscular Strength and Anaerobic Power in the Position of Professional Basketball Players

The purpose of this study was to investigate difference on physical fitness, isokinetic muscular strength and anaerobic power according to position in professional basketball players. Subjects divided 3 groups : guard(n=14), forward(n=14) and center(n=7). Physique analysis were measured standing height, body weight and body fat. Physical fitness analysis were measured grip strength, back strength, trunk flexion, sit up, side step test, sargent jump, and balance. Isokinetic test were measured peak torque on knee flexion and extension by biodex system. Anaerobic power test were measure wingate test. Results of this study were as follows;1. In the position of professional basketball players, the physical fitness was not significant difference in the 3 group. But grip test showed significant difference in the forward, center and guard(p<.05).2. The peak torque of knee flexion/extension showed significant difference at 60°/sec in right knee extension and left knee flexion. 3. The wingate test for measurement of anaerobic power show significant difference between groups(p<.001).In conclusion, physical fitness and isokinetic muscular strength indicated no significant difference in the 3 group, but in anaerobic power, center was higher than other groups. Therefore, this results suggest that professional basketball training program might involve particular factors in according to position.
