Cultural psychologists like Bruner mentioned the importance of culture of education in social
context. One's cultural experiences throughout his/her life long period may develop his/her self
esteem and self-confidency. Therefore, cultural education needs to be started from the early stage of one's childhood. As for the expedition of cultural education in a national level, it is naturally said that the community support is essential. However, the research in this area is rare since the culture and arts education is the recent issue in Korea. Therefore this study examined the meaning and value of cultural education for young children and practical cultural education in abroad and at home. From the review of related literature, numbers of tips were suggested toward the development of cultural education with focus on the community support especially for teachers of young children.

본 연구는 유아의 삶을 풍성하고 윤택하도록 도와주는 다양한 문화 체험의 중요성을 인식하고 이에 대한 체계적인 준비를 통하여 체험 속에 내재하는 상징적 체계에 대한 이해와 향유를 도모해주는 문화예술교육에 대하여 살펴보고 이를 유아교사교육에 적용해 보고자 함에 목적이 있다. 관련 문헌과 인터넷 자료 조사를 통하여 문화예술교육의 개념과 교육적 의의, 유아교사에 대한 시사점, 문화예술교육의 현실에 대하여 지역사회에 연계한 외국의 사례와 더불어 알아보았다. 연구결과에 의하면 문화예술교육은 교육과정에 당연히 포함되어야 할 유아교육내용이라는 점과 이에 대한 교육이 지역사회와 연계하여 활발히 전개되고 있는 외국에 비하여 우리의 문화예술교육 현실은 매우 취약하다는 점이 밝혀졌다. 결론적으로 향후 유아교사교육에서는 문화예술교육의 구체적 내용과 방법 그리고 효율적인 실행을 위한 지역사회와의 협조체제 구축등에 대한 지속적인 안내와 교육애 대한 필요성이 제안되었다.
