This report is to contribute advanced economic development by helping university students getting right the market economy and inspiring an entrepreneurial spirit. Therefore, this report directly analyzes the level of university students’ understanding with regard to the present market economy, and also analyzes the demand for economic education. In this research, we went through the results of surveys worked with 430 university students about basic principles of the market economy, the present condition of Korean economy, national main policies, an entrepreneurial spirit, and youth’s role. Some parts of the survey results show that some university students’ propensity is so biased that it is hard to solve economic and social conflicts without education about the market economy. And sufficient knowledge about the market economy should be achieved during the student days before stepping out to the society. In this manner, I hope university students to act as a desirable and main economic subject by achieving and understanding right purchasing conception in the market economy.

본 연구는 급속도로 변화하는 경제 하에서 대학생들에게 시장경제에 대한 바른 이해를 증진시켜주고 기업가 정신을 고취함으로써 선진경제발전에 기여할 목적으로 교육 대상자인 대학생의 현재 시장경제 이해수준과 교육 요구를 직접 분석하였다. 본 조사에서는 대학생 430명을 대상으로 시장경제의 기본 원리, 한국경제의 현황, 국내 주요 정책, 기업가 정신, 청년의 역할 등에 대한 설문조사의 결과를 살펴보았다. 이러한 설문조사의 결과 몇 가지 부분에 있어서는 대학생들의 성향이 편향적이어서 시장경제교육 없이는 경제·사회적 갈등을 줄이기 어려울 것으로 보이며, 부족한 시장경제 지식들은 사회인이 되기 전 학생 시절에 미리 습득해야 할 것으로 보인다. 이에 따라 대학생 시기에 바람직한 시장경제 소비자의식과 올바른 이해를 통해 사회에 나가서도 바람직한 경제 주체로 활동할 수 있길 바란다.
