This study was intended to present the total research task of Korean classic music education in elementary school by examining the appreciation part of Korean classic music learning in elementary school. So it attempted to present several research tasks to be considered on the educational field. First, seeing that about 5% of the current music teachers were the ones majoring in Korean classic music, it is necessary to investigate long-term and necessary in-service training on Korean classic music for music teachers and the effective dissemination of audiovisual materials for appreciation learning to each school. Second, musical pieces for appreciation learning adopted in each textbook were not diversely distributed in terms of genres or forms of execution but too much importance was attached to particular genres or forms of execution. Under this reality, it is necessary to investigate the systematic distribution and arrangement of contents after the analysis of music textbooks.
Third, it is necessary to investigate the reality of Korean classic music material for appreciation produced by the National Classic Music Institute and the present situation of Korean classic music material for appreciation hold in each school.
Forth, it is necessary to investigate the specific Korean classic music appreciation method and the production of auxiliary textbooks. Fifth, it is necessary to investigate the selection of Korean classic music creations usable as the music pieces of appreciation textbooks. Since the appreciation part of Korean classic music in elementary school is evenly organized from the low grade to the higher grade, it is thought that it is necessary to take a special interest in it.
