The purpose of this paper is to analyse the characteristics of food expenditures of salary and wage earners' households by educational attainment of household head. The empirical work outlined here uses quarterly data running from 1990 to 2007. All variables are in log form,
which are obtained from the Korea National Statistical Office. The food items include fish, fruits, meat, vegetables, beverage and cakes. I apply the Ordinary Least Squares to the model consisted of the household income, the food expenditures, the seasonal dummies and the foreign exchange crisis.
This paper shows that the higher the educational career of the household head is, the greater the income coefficients are in the long-run. This indicates that the university group has the lowest income coefficient. The income coefficients of the middle school group, however, are greater than
those of the elementary school group. This study also finds that the rolling coefficients of fish and meat tend to decline, while those of cake and beverage tend to increase as time passes. Furthermore, this paper shows that while the coefficients of fruit and vegetable increase, those of cake and beverage decrease in the university class, suggesting that the highest educational career group is faster than any other group in recognizing the well-being.

소비지출의 관계를 밝히는데 집중되어 있으며, 가구주 학력이 식료품비 지출에 미치는 영향에 대
해 살펴본 문헌은 거의 없다. 본고는 가구주 학력을 초졸, 중졸, 고졸, 대졸로 구분하고, 식료품을
어개류, 과실류, 채소류, 육류, 음료⋅주류, 빵⋅과자류로 세분하여 학력에 따른 식료품비 지출패턴
과 특성을 밝힌다. 소비함수는 품목별 지출, 가계소득, 외환위기 더미변수, 계절적 더미변수로 구성
한다. 모형을 추정하여 가계소득은 소비지출에 양의 효과를 가지며, 학력이 높을수록 소득탄력성이
낮다는 것과 음료⋅주류의 소득계수가 상대적으로 크다는 것을 보인다. 또한 대졸 가계가 다른 학
력의 가계에 비해 웰빙을 조기에 인식한다는 것도 밝힌다. 전향적 이동회귀를 통해 빵⋅과자류와
음료⋅주류의 소득계수는 시간이 흐를수록 점차 커지는 반면에 다른 품목들의 소득계수는 작아지는
결과를 도출한다. 다른 학력 가계에 비해 대졸 가계의 웰빙 의식이 높아 최근 들어 대졸 가계의 빵
⋅과자류와 음료⋅주류의 소득계수가 하락함을 보인다. 마지막으로 충격반응함수를 이용하여 빵⋅
과자류와 음료⋅주류의 반응이 대졸의 경우 오래 지속된다는 점을 밝힌다.
