The college entrance examination is one of the most important topics in Korean education. The entrance examination influences the whole process of school education through all ages. Christian schools cannot avoid the influence of the entrance examination. Even when a Christian
school has a wonderful Christian vision statement, the aim of the school is sometimes distorted by the needs of the entrance examination. The entrance examination also influences both church education and family education. Almost all Christian parents seem to have a secular world
view rather than a Christian one when it comes to the education of their children, especially regarding college entrance. Even pastors and Sunday school teachers do not seem to have established a Christian perspective on the entrance examination. Without overcoming these limitations, it is difficult to practice true Christian education in the areas of family, church, and school. This research is for a Christian understanding of the entrance examination in the Korean context. In order to understand the meaning of the entrance examination in Korea, it should be noted that it involves not only social aspects but cultural aspects. Especially, the entrance
examination in Korea has been culturally influenced by Confucianism.
The influence has formed the so-called 'entrance examination ideology,' characteristically overemphasizing the importance of family, competition, upward-social mobility, and individual success. It is the task of Christian education to overcome this limitation, and to establish the identity of Christian education in Korean society. It is very important to foster a Christian perspective on the entrance examination in Christian family education, church education, and Christian school education.
A Christian approach to the entrance examination can be summarized as the following. First, a Christian approach to the entrance examination would start from the perspective of God's calling. The entrance examination should be a way for students to respond to God's calling. Second, a
Christian should be able to look at the entrance examination in terms of the students' gift. Every student has his/her own God-given gift. The entrance examination is a channel through which the gift can be developed.
Third, a Christian should look at the entrance examination in terms of community. An individualistic approach to the entrance examination is not a valid Christian perspective. The Christian approach emphasizes the importance of community. Fourth, Christians should look at the entrance examination in terms of effort. Making an effort to do one's best is valuable in itself, not being better than someone else. Fifth, Christians should see the entrance examination in view of building the Kingdom of God. The entrance examination should be a ceremony in which students are sent into every field of society on a mission for God's Kingdom.

한국교육의 가장 근본적인 문제는 입시위주의 교육이라고 할 수 있다. 입시의 영향은 학교교육만이 아니라 교회교육, 가정교육까지 심각히 왜곡시키고 있다. 입시의 영향은 기독교교육마저도 그 정체성을 상실하게 만들고 있다. 기독교적 건학이념을 지닌 기독교학교라도 입시에 대한 기독교적 관점이 정립되어 있지 않으면 입시위주의 교육으로 전락되어 버린다. 기독교가정이나 교회학교도 입시위주의 교육으로 인해 그 정체성이 심각하게 훼손되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 입시현상에 대해 기독교적으로 비평하고, 입시에 대한 기독교적 관점을 확립하기 위한 것이다. 특히 한국의 입시문제는 유교문화에 의해 강하게 영향을 받고 있기 때문에 문화적인 분석이 필수적인데, 이러한 분석에 따르면 한국의 입시는 입시출
세주의, 입시가족주의, 입시지상주의, 그리고 입시세속주의라는 이데올로기를 지니고 있음을 알 수 있다. 입시 이데올로기는 오늘날 일반교육은 물론 기독교교육마저 심각히 왜곡시키고 있는데, 이를 교육목적, 교육내용, 교육방법, 교육평가로 나누어 어떻게 변질시키고 있는지를 파악하였다. 한국의 기독교를 비롯한 종교는 이러한 입시 이데올로기를 비판하고 이를 개혁하기 보다는 오히려 입시 이데올로기를 종교적 제의나 신념을 통해 강화시키는 경향이 있다. 본 연구는 이를 비판하며 입시를 기독교적 관점으로 바라볼 것을 제안하고 있는데, 이는 소명의 관점, 은사의 관점, 공동체의 관점, 탁월성의 관점, 그리고 하나님 나라의 관점으로 바라보는 것을 의미한다. 한국교회는 교인들로 하여금 입시에 대한 기독교
적 관점을 확립하도록 도와야하고, 기독교사운동, 기독학부모운동과 연계하여 이를 교육현장에서 실천할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다.
