The purpose of this study is to investigate how to prevent children's internet addiction and to help children's safe use of internet. For this purpose, a teacher survey has been conducted to investigate early childhood educators' perception of internet safety. In this study, 312 teachers were selected from kindergartens in Seoul metropolitan area. The results indicated that the teacher survey identified high awareness of the internet safety problem and strong needs for teacher training. The survey results revealed that early childhood educators had difficulties in developing the internet addiction prevention program and conducting the program in the classroom. Early childhood educators wanted educational materials and teachers guidebook as well as program manuals for internet addiction prevention program for young children. The survey results suggested that internet safety education is required to provide a safe and healthy internet environment to young children as well as to prevent children's internet addiction. It was also recommended to include parent education in internet addiction prevention program for young children.

본 연구는 유아교육 현장의 인터넷 안전교육 실태와 인터넷 안전교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식을 조사하여 유아의 올바른 인터넷 사용 및 안전한 인터넷 환경을 조성하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행되었다. 서울과 경기지역의 유아교육기관에 근무하는 교사 312명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과, 유아들의 인터넷 사용에 따른 역기능 문제가 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 특히 인터넷 및 게임의 과다사용, 부적절한 언어사용의 문제, 무계획적 사용 및 부적절한 인터넷 사용자세 등이 심각한 문제로 지적되었다. 대부분의 유아교사들이 유아를 대상으로 한 인터넷 안전교육이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었으나 실제 인터넷 안전교육을 실시하는 유아교사는 일부에 불과한 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 유아교사들은 인터넷 안전교육에 대한 교사연수의 필요성은 높게 인식하고 있었으나 인터넷 안전교육에 대한 구체적 방법과 내용에 어려움을 지니고 있었다. 실제 교사연수에 참여한 경험 또한 매우 저조하여 교사연수기회의 확대가 요구되었다. 더불어 유아 대상 인터넷 안전교육은 유아교육현장에서 교사에 의존하기보다 가정과 연계하여 유아교사와 부모가 함께 할 필요가 있는 것으로 조사되었다.
