This study aimed at development of the community based global education model and program for global citizenship of elementary students. For this purpose, we have conducted research through theoretical analysis, development of the community based global education model and program, classroom application and revision. The results of this study are summarized as follows.
First, We have made that community based global education are efficient for global citizenship of elementary students through theoretical reviews about global education clear.
Second, We have developed the community based global education model for teaching main
concepts of global education as like interdependence, adaptation and change, identity and
culture, civil and social behavior, conflict solution, resource and rarity.
Third, We have developed concrete the community based global education program that is
composed of 4 contents areas, "world in the community", "various men and culture of
community", "for solution of antagonism and conflicts".
Fourth, the result of classroom application, these program have appreciable effect on the
achievement of goals on global education and social studies, interaction between teacher and
students, and students' response and comprehension about instruction.
In conclusion We had like to say that the community based global education program from model developed on this study can be developed in a variety of ways, and these programs will contribute elementary students for growing world citizenship.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학생들의 세계시민성을 효과적으로 육성하기 위한 지역사회 연계 세계교육 모형 및 이에 기초한 프로그램을 개발하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저, 세계교육에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 초등학생들의 세계시민성 육성을 위해서는 지역사회연계 세계교육이 효과적이란 점을 밝혔다. 다음으로 상호의존, 적응과 변화, 정체성과 문화, 시민성, 사회적 행동, 갈등해결, 자원과 희소성 등과 같은 세계교육의 주요 개념을 효율적으로 가르침으로써 초등학생들의 세계시민성을 육성하기 위한 지역사회연계 세계교육 모형을 개발하였다. 또한 개발된 모형에 토대해서 “지역사회 속의 세계”, “지역의 다양한 사람과 문화”, “대립과 갈등의 해결을 위해”, “내일의 세계(우리 지역의 내일)”라는 네 주제를 중심으로 주제별로 4-5개의 학습제재를 선정해서 구체적인 지역사회 연계 세계교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 그리고 프로그램의 현장 적용을 통해 본 연구에서 개발한 모형 및 프로그램이 세계교육 및 사회과 교육의 목표 달성, 교사와 학생의 상호작용 양상, 수업내용에 대한 학생들의 반응 및 이해도 등의 측면에서 효과적임을 밝히고, 반성적 평가를 통해 프로그램을 수정․보완했다.
