This paper explores cultural orientalism in Disney Animation from the postcolonial standpoint. And this study explores the need and direction for cultural ethics education. Disney Animation's dominance of children's entertainment in the world has influenced economic and cultural consequences.
Globalization, identity and Americanization were interrogated through the lens of industrial imperialism and cultural imperialism. Disney Animation could not ignore the films’ commercial profitability. Violence and other desirable scenes for children made ethic of Disney Animation look innocent. But I criticize ethics of Disney Animation from the ethics of the other. For this, I adopt the cultural imperialism and postcolonialism of Edward Said, Fredric Jameson and Henry Giroux for this study. In this paper, four works are discussed. This paper has analyzed the racism and sexism on Aladdin,
Lion King, Pocahontas and Mulan. Culture is not pure or high-positioned, but is the mixture which
contains the political, economical and social phases of the times. In post capitalistic society, Disney Animation has many problems of cultural imperialism and false consciousness about America. Therefore, in terms of postcolonialism, we must transvalue custom and ideology of Disney Animation and relflect the social and historical meaning. And we must teach cultural ethics education for postcolonialism and cultural　ethics of the other. For this, we also need expanded moralism and cultural ethics education.

본 연구는 소박한 도덕주의자들이 옹호하는 순수한 디즈니 애니메이션이 문제가 있음을 오리엔탈리즘과 탈식민주의의 입장에서 비판하고 보다 확대된 문화윤리교육의 방향이 필요함을 제시하고자 한다. 이런 문제의식에 비추어 디즈니 애니메이션의 대표적 흥행영화인 <알라딘>, <라이온킹>, <포카혼타스>, <뮬란>을 중점적으로 분석하되, 인종차별주의나 성차별주의라는 측면에서 문제를 제기하고 디즈니 애니메이션이 만들어낸 부정적인 타자들을 오리엔탈리즘의 차원에서 비판하였다.
또한 이미지․음악․서사 양식, 즉 미학적 또는 해석학적 양식의 차원에서 분석해 보고 디즈니가 내세우는 순수성의 윤리에 대해 타자의 윤리적 입장과 탈식민주의의 입장에서 비판해 보았다. 또한 작금의 문화윤리교육은 시장논리나 문화민족주의적 전망 등을 넘어 탈식민주의 문제를 고려하는 보다 확대된 문화윤리교육의 입장에서 시도되고 가르쳐질 필요가 있음을 제시하였다.
