The purpose of this thesis is aimed at studying the problems and solutions for college English in the education of liberal art. There are many reformers and educators to study university curriculums for liberal art and take part in discussions around teaching and inspecting English in university in itself or Ministry of Education. They argue that the education situation now is facing serious crisis so that we need to rethink the old educated styles and make new findings as a way to solve it.
The atmosphere of education situation at the moment changes by the problem of subject, accumulation of experience, domain of judgement, and regulation of standard to maximize education in the field of culture, individual passion, and intelligent class. But in order to practice the teaching method it is naturally that we have the tendency to adjust to the new way of understanding the contemporary cultural and industrial education and the stream of knowledge in the crisis of humanitarian study.
In the exploration and opinion for the education the study of education problem and solution is different from traditional criticism and synthesis. It is said that we are not trained into the evaluation and idea of what we need to know the method of thinking in one aspect, and that not all students experience the organic relation with education in another. Therefore, the future of liberal education is concerned with the reality of value, knowledge, insight and understanding for the world to be students as intelligent.
We can say that teachers have a poor image in reality and students are in the course of trained standard without interest and subjectivity just to be machines such as labors after school education. So we have to study again about the writing, reading, speaking and listening of liberal art education in university English. Furthermore, we have to understand the condition of creativity and possibility through building character and experiment of students in real class.
