To study ≪Gu Shi Xin Bian≫ from the anthropological and ethnological perspective, one must be aware that Lu Xun’s thinking has both an anthropological characteristic and an ethnical feature: the former proves that his thinking had a coverage of the whole human race, while the latter shows that he had his literary creativity deeply rooted in the Chinese culture. The combination of the two aspects in his thinking has found expression in the writing of ≪Gu Shi Xin Bian≫. This dissertation raises the motifs in ≪Gu Shi Xin Bian≫ that are embedded in human culture, and examines the relation between the collection and the motifs. It is stated in the dissertation that the anthropological and ethnological perspective makes possible an adequate understanding of the collection’s advanced anthropological and ethnological implications, so that we can make out the significant differences between ≪Gu Shi Xin Bian≫ and the other two collections, and probe into the uniqueness of ≪Gu Shi Xin Bian≫ that remains unimitated and unparalleled in the 20th-century Chinese literature.

魯迅은 1936년 1월, 역사소설집인 ≪故事新編≫을 발표하였다. 이 소설집은 역대로 전해지는 神話와 傳說들을 빌어 오늘을 풍자하고 있는데 이러한 창작방식은 그가 보여준 기존의 틀을 완전히 부수고 새롭게 시도한 방식이라 하겠다. 그가 神話와 傳說을 소재로 택한 이유는 그 작품들 속에는 민족성의 특징뿐만 아니라 인류성의 특징을 잘 표현해주는 풍부한 人類文化母題들을 내포하고 있기 때문이다. 그래서 魯迅은 ≪故事新編≫을 통하여 인류전체에 보편적으로 존재하는 문제들을 많이 다루었던 것이다. 魯迅 思想과 思惟의 뚜렷한 특징 중의 하나는 바로 인류 전체를 향한 넓고 깊이 있는 이해를 갖추고 있다는 것이다. 위대한 시대의 선각자 魯迅 思想을 말할 때 일부는 정치적 시각으로 평가되어지고 있고 또 문화적으로는 반전통주의자라는 오해를 받고 있는 것이 사실이다. 그래서 본고는 이러한 시각에서 탈피하여 그가 인류 보편의 문제를 통하여 중국만이 아닌 인류전체를 아우르는 넓고 深度있는 思想과 思考를 가진 사람임을 확인하고, 민족의 전통사상을 부정하는 反傳統의 반역자가 아니라 民族固有의 血脈을 계승하고 추구하는 思想家임을 밝히는데 중점을 두었다. 西方文化를 섭취하고 참조하면서도 민족의 뿌리 깊은 전통을 승화시켜 시대의 선각자로서의 역할을 다한 그는 그의 ≪故事新編≫을 통하여 자신의 현실체험에다 인류문화와 민족문화를 융화시켜 바로故事를新編하는 창작 자세와 전통을 이해하고 그것을 바탕으로 하여 새로운 미래를 열고자 했던 사상가의 모습을 밝히는 것이 본 논문의 핵심 내용이라 하겠다.
