Metaphor that can be formulated as in ‘A is B’ is characterized by compression and omission, which shall be against maxim of conversations. Therefore, when translating a metaphor, such a formal characteristic should be considered. However, other than such formal respect, if the linking pins between the two objects are to be recognized differently in some specific cultures, then the effects that resulted from metaphor could not be expressed in a proper and animated fashion. Therefore, it is important to know how the linking pins between A and B will be formed, and also to clarify how these are to be recognized in an identical manner even in target language
and culture as well. Code makes the signifier, named A, and the signified, named B as a meaningful system by linking the two. But this code is different in every culture. For this reason, professional translators, first of all, are required to clarify the differences in code that recognized between source culture and target culture, and to vary the method of translation accordingly.
