The purpose of this research is encouraging of positive understanding about unification education by examining the fundamental characteristic of socialism ideology and difference
between socialism and communism. Utopian socialists among the early socialists emphasized
the life of natural and moral way in community. Fabien socialism developed a moderate
movement to recover humanity and improve living conditions of the working classes.
Marxism in claims that wageworkers' overcome on alienation in capitalism should be taken
what it should be by the dialectic of master and slave. Marxism was transmuted as revisionism in western Europe and as soviet socialism (communism) in Rusia. Revisionism presented an ideology which focuses on gradual reform from the standpoint of democratic principles, not violent revolution. Rusian socialism (communism) progressed toward a different direction and constructed a miserable social system in which state power and elite group of the communist party tyrannize over the whole nation with standardized control. Identification of socialism with communism should not be confused. Recognition that socialism has an character as a social movement to realize equality and justice in harmonious way is requested to be promoted.

본 연구의 목적은 사회주의 이념의 근본적인 성격과 공산주의와 차별성을 확인하여 통일교육에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 제고하려는 것이다. 초기 사회주의자들 중에서 공상적 사회주의의 이념은 공동체안에서 자연적이고 도덕적인 생활을 강조했다. 페비안 사회주의는 인간성의 회복과 서민들의 생활조건 향상을 위한 온건한 사회운동을 전개하였다. 마르크시즘은 헤겔의 ‘주인과 노예의 변증법’ 사상을 근간으로 자본주의 사회에서 임금노동자의 소외 극복의 당위성을 주장하는 것이다. 마르크시즘은 서구에서 수정주의로, 러시아에서 소비에트사회주의(공산주의)로 변질된다. 수정주의는 폭력혁명이 아닌 민주주의 원리에 입각한 점진적 사회개혁에 중심을 두는 이념을 제시한다. 소비에트 사회주의(공산주의)는 마르크스의 이론과 다른 과정으로 진행되었고 당 엘리트가 주도하는 국가권력의 획일적 통제가 전횡하는 불행한 사회체제를 형성하였다. 사회주의를 공산주의와 동일시하는 것은 합당하지 못하며 사회주의의 이념은 평등과 정의가 실현되는 조화로운 삶을 위한 인류의 이상이자 사회운동으로 보아야 한다.
