A lot of changes were attained in education along with 21th century social change. As 21th century future society very complex and various, teacher's role is required variously. Searched elementary school teacher's role and quality after observe change of teaching profession pipe and quality of teacher to search suitable elementary school quality of teacher in 21th century that is represented by postmodernism.
In this study, presented side and special ability side the human nature enemy by elementary school teacher' quality in 21th century future society. First, quality connected with human nature is self-existence feeling, positive thought, belief for blended fabric, attention and understanding, personal respect etc.
Second, quality connected with teacher's special ability has autonomy and special knowledge for blended fabric and a technology, child's comprehension, leadership about circumstance, strong will, artfulness ets. authority.
Also, elementary school quality of teacher is not conclusive and must be able to change spontaneously according to circumstance. Such active change may display more the ability by fostering leadership that teacher who possess authority leads circumstance. Therefore, elementary school teacher must possess together capacity that display ability properly according to circumstance as have various ability.

21세기 미래사회의 변화와 더불어 교육에서도 많은 변화가 이루어져 왔다. 21세기는 매우 복
잡하고 다양한 만큼 교사의 역할도 이에 맞추어 다양하게 요구되고 있다. 포스트모더니즘으로
대표되는 21세기 미래사회에 적합한 초등학교 교사의 자질을 탐색해 보기 위하여 초등교직의
특수성과 전문성에 대한 이해와 교육관에 따른 초등교사의 자질과 여러 관점에서의 초등교사의
자질을 살펴본 후 미래사회에 강조되는 초등교사의 자질을 탐색하였다.
본 연구에서는 여러 학자들의 논의를 토대로 교사가 갖추어야 할 자질은 교육관, 교직관, 교
사관에 따라 다양하나 교수활동 측면에서 교과목은 물론 교양까지 넓고 깊은 지식이 있어야 하
고, 그 지식을 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 교수방법이 능숙하여야 하며, 인성적인 자질로는 사
명감․봉사정신이 필요한 것으로 요약할 수 있을 것이다. 즉 교사는 인성, 지식, 교육기술, 태도
등의 다방면에 걸쳐 자질을 지녀야 한다고 보았다.
또한 초등학교 교사의 자질은 확정적이지 않으며 상황에 따라 능동적으로 변화할 수 있어야
한다. 이러한 능동적인 변화는 권위를 갖춘 교사가 상황을 주도하는 리더십을 함양함으로써 더
욱 그 능력을 발휘할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 초등학교 교사는 다양한 능력을 갖추고 있으면서
상황에 따라 적절히 능력을 발휘하는 역량도 함께 갖추어야 하겠다.
