Women`s participations in the society are increased and the average level of education is also improved. As a result, women show their abilities in a variety of areas. The rate of women in the teaching profession has been steadily increased and it outnumbered the majority after 90`s, but it is still insignificant in the administrative position of a organization. Therefore, it can be said that
women`s position is not improved even though women`s participations in the society are increased. The change toward information society has requested delicate and tenderness of women. Now, it is time to discuss how to positively utilize and apply women`s abilities to the teaching profession, not to concern the increasing rate of women in the teaching profession. To encourage the speciality of women teachers who are able to lead the teaching profession, and have a great but tender power, social supports and organized education chance should be provided to women.
In the studies, after checking the number of the women administrator in the organizations of the elementary education, and comparing the women`s leadership in a common organization with the leadership of women principal in the organization of the education, it is discussed that how to show the leadership of women principal for improving in the organizations of the education.

여성의 사회 참여의 확대와 학력 수준의 향상으로 인해 다양한 분야에서 여성들이 뛰어난 능력을 발휘하고 있다. 교직에서도 여성의 비율이 꾸준히 증가하여 90년대 이후로 과반수를 넘어섰으나 아직 관리직에서의 여성 비율은 미미한 수준이어서, 여성의 사회 진출은 증가하였지만 사회적 지위가 높아졌다고는 말할 수 없다. 지식정보화 사회로의 변화는 여성의 부드러움과 섬세함을 요구하게 되었다. 이제는 교직의 여성화를 우려하는 목소리보다는 여성의 능력을 더 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안을 논의할 때이다. 교육 조직을 이끌수 있는 부드럽지만 강한 힘을 가진 여교사들의 전문성을 신장시킬 수 있도록 사회적 지원과 체계적인 교육 기회를 제공할 수 있어야 한다.
본 연구에서는 현재 초등교육 조직에서의 여성 관리자 현황을 알아본 후, 일반 조직에서의 여성 리더십과 교육 조직에서의 여교장의 리더십에 대해 살펴보고, 교육 조직 개선을 위한 여교장의 리더십 발휘 방향을 모색해 보고자 한다.
