The elementary education form the quality of happy life and every education is based on it. Some students are good at studying in school. But students who have low cognitive development lose their interest in studying as they are going up to higher grades. Some of them totally give up and never study. Education should consider the differences in individual cognitive development. Because even in same grades and same ages students have different abilities and potentials.
This research suggests what Piaget's cognitive development evaluation presents to individualization in class with the educational background above.
The procedure is First, research on Piaget's cognitive development theory. Second, make research quality of the Piaget's cognitive development evaluation. Third, research for what Piaget's cognitive development evaluation presents to individualization in class.
Piaget's assessment founds on a logical basis about curriculum and also evaluates cognitive procedure and psychological procedure of student to fulfill the student's individual needs and demands.

초등교육은 모든 교육의 기초가 되고, 국민 누구나가 원만하고 행복한 생활을 영위하는 데 필요한 기초적 자질을 형성하는 교육이다. 그러나 현행 교육과정의 수준에 맞도록 적정수준의 인지 발달이 이루어진 학생들은 교과교육에 적응하여 갈 수 있지만, 인지 발달 수준이 낮은 학생들은 학년이 올라갈수록 교과교육에 대한 흥미도가 점점 낮아져 교과교육을 포기하기도 한다.
특히 같은 연령, 같은 학년의 학생들이라도 개인의 특성에 따라 인지 발달 수준 차이가 있으므로 교육은 개개인의 능력의 다양성과 변화 가능성을 인정하여 각각의 학생들에게 적절한 교육적 처치를 제공하는 방향으로 바뀌어야 한다.
본 연구는 이러한 교육적 요구를 바탕으로 학습자 개인의 교육적 성취를 이루기 위하여 Piaget의 인지발달 수준 평가 방법이 어떠한 역할을 수행할 수 있는지 탐색해 보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 내용을 설정하였다.
첫째, Piaget의 인지발달 이론을 탐색한다. 둘째, Piaget의 인지발달 검사 도구의 특징을 살펴보고, 셋째, Piaget의 인지발달 수준 평가 방법이 초등교육에 주는 시사점을 모색하고자 한다.
Piaget의 평가 방법은 교육과정을 논리적으로 조직하는 것과 더불어 학습자의 인지과정과 심리적 과정을 직접적으로 측정하여 학생 개인의 필요와 요구에 부응하고자 한다.
