Due to rapid development of information, they are exposed to commercially-purposed multi-media and have become victims of materialism. Such harmful environment confusion in their sense of moral values. So, family, school and society have had much difficulty in effective management of education of education of young people. In this situation, our education focuses on education of personality. Personality education is directed to have students have desirable and incorporated personality, and ultimately, aims at improvement of our living quality in the future when young people will be heroes of the society. As personality education is designed to encourage students to have morality, it is thought that it can be most effectively taught through Morals education pursuing morality. Above all, for desirable personality education, students are taught to have harmonized cognitive, righteous and behavioral elements that constitute morality through morality education. Therefore, this study is to speculate importance and necessity of personality education based on problems recognition mentioned above, and through an analysis on the Morals curriculum and the Morals textbooks, it is to prepare effective plans to realize morality education. For the purpose, this study is progressed as follows : First, speculates objectives and necessity of personality education through identification of concepts of personality and personality education and presents present personality education plans at schools. Second, identifies general contents of Morals textbooks according to the amendment or the Morals curriculum and limits to the Morals textbooks. Third, deals with ‘Morals Education Plan for Personality Education'. It speculates relations between personality education and morality education, and presents instruction plants which help realize personality education and overcome limits to morality education. To establish the proper status of Morals and overcome the crisis of morality in our society, we need to discuss personality carefully and personality elements should be properly taught through lessons on Morals and its practical application.

오늘날 급격한 정보화로 인한 상업적인 대중매체에의 노출, 물질만능주의 풍조 등의 유해 환경이 복합적으로 작용하여 청소년들의 비행과 탈선이 증가하는 등 가치관 혼란과 도덕성 상실의 문제에 직면하고 있으며, 현재 우리 가정과 학교와 사회는 청소년 교육에 있어서 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이러한 현실 속에서 최근 우리 교육계의 화두는 인성교육이다. 인성교육은 학생들로 하여금 바람직한 인성 혹은 통합된 인격을 갖게 하여 인간으로서 바람직한 품성을 길러주는 교육이며, 궁극적으로는 그들이 주인공으로 살아갈 미래 사회에 모두가 높은 삶의 질을 누리며 인간답게 살아갈 수 있도록 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 즉 인성교육은 도덕성을 길러주는 교육이라고 할 수 있으므로, 도덕성을 추구하는 도덕교육에 의해 가장 효과적으로 이루어질 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 바람직한 인성교육을 위해서는 도덕교육을 통해 학생들이 도덕성을 구성하는 인지적․정의적․행동적 영역의 요소들을 조화롭게 갖출 수 있어야 하는 것이다. 그러나 현행 중․고등학교 도덕교육은 아직 인지적 측면에 많은 비중을 두고 있으며 실질적인 인성교육이 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있다는 비판을 받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 중등 도덕과 교육과정 및 도덕 교과서 분석을 통해 그 한계점을 고찰하여 인성교육을 구현하기 위한 도덕교육 방안을 모색해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 다음과 같은 주요 방향으로 진행하였다. 첫째, 인성과 인성교육의 개념 파악을 통해 인성교육의 필요성과 방향을 제시하고 학교 인성교육의 방법을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 도덕교과 교육과 인성교육의 관계를 살펴보고, 현행 중등 도덕교과 교육과정 및 도덕 교과서를 분석해 봄으로써 개선해야 할 문제점들을 보완해 보고자 하였다. 셋째, 도덕교과에서 활용할 수 있는 다양한 수업 모형을 도덕성의 인지적․정의적․행동적 영역의 내용 영역별로 모색해 보았다. 도덕과의 위상을 바로 세우고 우리 사회의 도덕성 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 인성교육에 대한 논의가 반드시 필요하며, 도덕과 교육의 수업에서 인성교육적 요소를 체계적으로 적용하고 실천해 나가려는 자세가 필요할 것이다.
