It was a new venture for Matthew Fox's work on the ritual of creation spirituality that four young men from England attended to its ritual workshop in 1993. They had endeavored to renew their worship in the religious community. They had given Fox the courage, motives, ideas to formulate his ecological orientated ritual experimentation, more likely the current form. He had tried his creation spirituality with several ways, not only to remain in the academic circle, but to influence it on the daily life and worship of people more richly and lively. His effort eventually turns out to name "The Mass of Cosmic Christ," which stands on the theology of 'the coming of Cosmic Christ.' Fox refers the coming of the Cosmic Christ mainly to the Father's works and Bible.
Fox's Mass celebrates the coming of Cosmic Christ. The Cosmic Christ in the Mass performs the role of the redeemer. The Mass is a renewal for the contemporary Christian worship that is becoming dry. The ritual is simply not a religious activity, but to express human's religious needs which helps ordering into the cosmic life. It has wonderfully functioned to provide attendants great energy and vision, and to bind human community together. Thus, he demonstrates that the ritual of the ecological spirituality is theoretically a good place to show the opportunity of growth for the attendants. Also, Fox lively shows that he educates his followers how to perform and to practise it in actuality.
