The six specimens of half the real size we made and tested in order to see the structural performance of vierendeel truss type composite using glued-laminated wood and steel. there specimens were formed of three kinds- WWW made of glued-laminated wood, WWS made of steel lower chord, WSS made of steel lower chord and Steel vertical shear member.
specimen WWW5 showed shear cracks at shear member, but they were finally disappeared by strain of upper chord and lower chord. In specimen WWS8 and WWS5, due to shear failure of shear member, they appeared many distortions, and cracks in upper chord, but they did not reduce the sustention power greatly. WSS8 and WSS5 showed the highest strength among the
three kinds of specimens, but they showed sharp drop in strength along with bolt disconnection. being compared with WWW and WSS, both of which showed sharp drop of strength, WWS showed the supreme structural performance the most grdual load increase and sagging.
