This study examines overseas Public Relations activities of JETRO in Japan. JETRO was established in 1958 to implement the task of promoting trade and investment between Japan and foreign nations. By dividing the period into three, 70s, 80s, 90s to the present, it analyzes the characteristics of PR activities of each period and also deals with present conditions. By doing this, the change of focus in overseas PR activities were analyzed.
In the early stage of its overseas PR activities, JETRO focused on the market development, exhibitions, publicity of Japanese products for promoting export. But its activities have been changed into the import promotion business, industrial cooperation, technique exchange, investment promotion, trade and industry promotion cooperation of developmental nations and international exchange promotion.
