This paper extends the prior researches by studying how other aspects of stock returns and earnings, that is the treatment of unrealized gains and losses, influence the sensitivity of cash compensation to stock returns and earnings. The empirical result shows in following.
First, as the result of that the effect of cash compensation to bad news and good news, the coefficients on R and ΔROA are positive and statistically significant. Also, the coefficient on the return interacted with the bad news dummy is positive and statistically significant. Bad news almost doubles the sensitivity of cash compensation to R than in the good news case.
Second, as the result of whether equity-based compensation is equally sensitive to positive and negative returns, the coefficient on R is positive and statistically significant, but the coefficient on ΔROA is not statistically significant. The coefficient on returns interacted with the bad news dummy(D*R) is negative and not statistically significant.

본 연구는 주가수익률과 회계이익의 다른 형태. 즉, 미실현이득과 손실의 회계처리가 주가수익률
에 따라 현금보상의 민감도에 영향을 미치는가를 연구함으로써 기존연구를 확대시키고자 하였다.
이에 대한 실증결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 주가수익률에 따른 경영자 현금보상의 민감도가 bad news일 때와 good news일 때의 효과를 분석한 결과, 주가수익률( R)과 순이익 변화분( ΔROA)에 대한 회귀계수 및 bad news의 더미변수와 관련된 더미변수*주가수익률( D* R)변수의 회귀계수 모두 양(+)의 값으로 나타났으며 통계적으로 유의하였다. 주가수익률에 따른 bad news일 때 현금보상의 민감도는 good news의 경우보다 약 두 배 정도 큰 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 경영자 스톡옵션보상이 양(+) 또는 음(-)의 주가수익률에 따라 균등하게 민감할 것인지를 분석한 결과, 주가수익률( R)의 회귀계수는 양(+)의 값으로 나타났고 통계적으로 유의하였으나순이익변화분( ΔROA)은 음(-)의 값을 가지며 통계적으로 유의하지 못하다. bad news일 때 더미변수*주가수익률변수( D* R)의 회귀계수는 음(-)의 값으로 나타났고 통계적으로 유의하였다.
