The social structure is becoming modified towards the individual performance. The informationalized communication roads entering in everyone's everyday life, and the study life coming on the adult age, are two mainly references that are applying for the changing on server of the Social Education facilities. Recently, a residential library experimental project, recognized the need of adding several other functions to the orignal matrix. If it offers community facilities to the region in which is placed, rather than reading, but also opening new possibilities for spending time in a useful way, it will easily become an environmental property that will exert a new behavior. This study which it sees the public library where there is to an execution time at the residential type library the family from inside the library tracking investigated use conduct in the object. This research analyzed the interrelation of composition feature of the type of family use and the un-reading behavior.

최근의 도서관을 둘러 싼 이용의 변화가운데 가장 큰 특징으로 평일의 학생이용중심에서 주부, 무직자, 고령자 이용과 휴일에는 가족동반이용 등으로 이용자의 속성이 변화하고 있고 이에 따라 체재형도서관이라고 하는 새로운 개념의 도서관이 출현하여 이용자의 속성에 대응하는 형태로 독서서비스를 제공하고 있다. 본 연구는 일본의 대표적인 체재형 공공도서관을 대상으로 가족의 이용행동에 착안하여 도서관내에서의 행동을 추적관찰조사하여 가족이용유형의 구성특징 및 공간구성과의 상관관계를 분석하여 도서관의 계획지침을 연구한 것이다. 그 결과 순수한 가족의 독서행위만을 고려할 때에는 상호독립이용을 염두에 두는 공간배치가 적합하다는 것이 도출되었다. 또한 비독서행위의 분석 및 고찰을 통하여는 가족이용의 도서관체재에 있어서 주위에 신경 쓰는 것 없이 또한 부모의 의식 가운데 내적제한을 완화하기 위해서는 어린이자료실은 성인자료실과의 분리형의 구성이 바람직하다는 계획적 지침을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 부모의 주체적인 이용을 보장하기위해서라도 특히 모친이 선호하는 도서는 성인자료실보다 어린이자료실내에 배치하는 경우가 가족이용에 있어서 양쪽을 만족시킬 수 있는 이용행위로 될 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
