This paper proposes an efficient educative model for improving the facility layout based on the incremental cost analysis. Most of existing methods for education of layout analysis in the production and operations management courses of university class use naive heuristic to improve the incumbent layout solution. Since the procedures introduced in most literatures to describe the improvement step are not crisp, however, the course instructor has difficulty applying the procedure even to intermediated-size problem. This paper proposes a useful educative model for instructing the layout course with the table based on the incremental cost which requires less computational efforts compared with existing approach using the table
based on the total cost at each iteration.
