Recently the demand for civil bodyguards and security guards shows rapid growth. However the supply and training system have some limitations. Educational and training systems for civil body and security guards are in the basic level and private organizations trained the professional work force. University level training started recently. To protect individual life and property, body and security guards have to be trained professionally. For it the role of professional training organizations is emphasized. The purpose of this article is to analyse current situation of civil body and security guard training industry and to seek an educational model. For it, the following questions will be examined. Do the professional training organizations meet social demand for the body and security guards? What kind of training has to be provided for the body and security guards? What tare the qualifications of the trainers? What are the differences in training courses between private organizations and universities? Is there any differences in the job placement among the trainees of private organizations and universities? In summary to meet the social demand common curriculum for the body and security guard will be drawn from the analyses of diverse training organizations with different training courses in contents, training periods, educational value, and social aim.

민간분야에 있어서의 경호 및 경비산업은 타 업종에 비해 급속한 신장세를 보이고 있다. 그러나 이에 따른 전문인력의 공급이나 교육체계, 그리고 자격인증에 대한 제도적인 장치가 마련되어 있지 않다. 그나마 공급을 주도하는 전문교육기관인 대학에서 관련학과들이 설치되어 전문인력을 배출하고 있지만, 체계적인 교육시스템이나 교육과정의 통합성은 아직도 미미한 수준이다. 그러다 보니 경호경비의 현장에서 요구되는 현실적인 교육이 이루어지지 못하는 경우도 발생하고 있고 또한 학교에 따라 교육과정이 천차만별한 경우도 있다. 이는 시장의 요구가 아직 제대로 교육현장에 반영되지 못하고 있음을 나타내고 있는 것이다. 민간경호경비원에 대한 자격문제도 현장에서 많이 거론되고 있는 문제이고 또한 필요성이 제기되고 있기도 하지만 이 또한 아직 제도정착의 기미를 보이지 않고 있다. 안전요원의 자격문제는 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있는 현실에서 개인의 생명이나 재산, 신체를 보호하는 역할을 하는 민간경호경비 요원에 대한 자격인증문제는 시민의 신뢰문제와 개인의 자질무제로서 반드시 필요한 부분이다. 이는 국가가 인증하는 제도적인 정착을 통해서 반드시 자격제도로 자리 잡혀야 한다. 또한 이러한 제도적인 자격제도의 정착은 사회적인 신뢰와 경호경비산업의 발전을 유도할 수 있다. 이와 관련 본 논문은 민간경호경비요원의 교육체계와 자격인증제도에 대한 필요성을 강조하고 이와 더불어 경비산업의 발전을 전망하고 있다.
