This study is based hereby on the introduction of Music Philosophy to raise the efficiency of the moral education. The Music Philosophy of Aquinas is taken as a starting point for the theoretical discussion. For the music to have a great efficiency in moral education, the theoretical bases are as follows: firstly, presentation of music phenomenology focusing on Akumena, secondly, the synesthesia focuing on the present time, thirdly, represent ‘the moral education through music’ not ‘music education,’ and lastly, ‘the moral education through philosophy’ not ‘philosophy education.’ Aquinas believed that wisdom, knowledge, and art by themselves do not make us to be a good person directly. The human being who is imperfect can amuse themselves in a perfect order set by God. By this scheme, ordinary people can get the reason of being(raison d'être) and achieve true happiness. In short, the music is a clear way toward happiness given by God. In the modern moral education, consequently the music philosophy of Aquinas would be a way to overcome the problems of knowledge-based education.

본 논문은 가치교육의 효율성 제고를 위해 음악적 기법을 도입해야 한다는 주장을 주로 담고 있다. 이론적 논의를 위해 토마스 아퀴나스의 음악철학 사상을 출발점으로 삼았다. 가치교육을 위해 음악의 효용성이 있다는 이론적 근거로, 첫째, 청현상(akumena)을 중시하는 음악현상학을, 둘째, 현재성을 중시하는 공감각적 요소를, 셋째, ‘음악교육’이 아닌 ‘음악을 통한 가치교육’을, 넷째, ‘철학교육’이 아닌 ‘철학을 통한 가치교육’을 제시했다. 아퀴나스에 의하면, 지혜, 지식, 이해력과 예술 그 자체는 우리로 하여금 선한 행동을 하도록 하지는 않는다. 그는 신에 의한 완전한 질서 속에서 불완전한 존재인 인간들끼리 유희를 할 수 있는데, 이때 반드시 절제된 덕을 발휘해야 진정한 행복을 느낄 수 있으며, 여기에 음악이 긍정적인 역할을 한다고 보았다. 기본적으로 음악은 신이 준 기쁨을 확인할 수 있는 수단인 것이다. 이와 같은 아퀴나스의 음악철학은 현대 가치교육에 있어서 지식위주의 교육이 갖는 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 하나의 단초가 될 수 있다고 본다. 나아가 이를 반영한 도덕과교육과정을 개발하고 실질적인 수업현장에서 음악을 활용할 수 있는 다양한 교수기법을 개발해야 함을 제기했다.
