A Survey of Primary School Teachers' Attitudes Towards School Lifelong Education The purpose of this study was (1) To investigate primary school teachers' attitudes towards School Lifelong Education(SLE) and (2) To extract several useful implications for promoting SLE. This study collected data from 274 primary school teachers(including principals and vice principals) using purposive sampling. Frequency analysis and cross table analysis were used to analyze the data. This study has several significant implications for the promotion of SLE. First, the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development(MOE&HRD) needs to create a positive lifelong learning environment to support SLE at no extra job for the teachers. Second, MOE&HRD needs to support students from a low-income bracket to enroll in SLE programs. Third, MOE&HRD needs to set several criteria for recruiting qualified instructors and to create a human resources pool. Fourth, each primary school needs to create a variety of programs in order to meet community residents' needs. Finally, MOE&HRD needs to supply facilities, teaching materials, and teaching aids sufficient to operate SLE.

이 연구의 목적은 학교평생교육의 중요 의사결정자들(stakeholder)인 초등학교 현직 교사들의 학교평생교육에 관한 인식을 조사하여 분석하고, 학교평생교육 운영의 활성화를 위한 몇 가지 유용한 시사점들을 도출하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 유목적적 표집방법(purposive sampling)을 이용해 서울시 초등학교에 재직하고 있는 현직교사(교장교감 포함) 274명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 위해 빈도분석 및 교차분석을 하였다. 이 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. (1) 학교평생교육 활동의 운영이 정규 수업에 부담을 주지 않고 학교나 교사가 교수 및 수업 연구 활동에 집중할 수 있도록 돕는 환경적인 여건이 마련되어야 한다. (2) 학교평생교육의 대상자 선발에서 저소득층 학생 등 실제적 지원이 필요한 계층의 학생들이 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 해야 한다. (3) 학교평생교육 프로그램을 담당할 수 있는 강사의 자격을 규정하고 인력풀을 확보할 수 있어야 한다. (4) 학교가 지역주민을 위한 평생교육의 공간으로서 활발히 이용되기 위해서는 지역주민의 요구에 바탕을 둔 학교평생교육 프로그램을 구체화할 필요가 있다. (5) 학교평생교육 프로그램의 원활한 운영을 위해 충분한 시설과 교재, 교구를 확보하는 방안이 마련되어야 한다.
