초록

영어

Loan words are referred to as naturalized words imported from foreign languages, which have their original forms or have been changed in pronunciation, form, and meaning. Also they are defined to be socially customized in their usage. This paper makes out a list of loan words from Korean-Japanese vocabularies of learning and dictionaries to grasp their aspects in each analytical item. The data for analysis in this paper is limited to those in the Korean-Japanese vocabularies of learning and dictionaries. As a result, we can find out on the side of lexical items in common usage with a high degree of understanding that Korean has many word pairs of a Sino or inherent word-a loan word, whereas Japanese has a strong tendency to use loan words generally though it has forms of Sino words and inherent words with the same meanings. This might mean that the phenomenon of shift from old words to new words is more vivid in Japanese. However, it would be a hasty derivation of conclusions to judge and interpret as above with the lexical analysis of the vocabularies for learning and dictionaries. In order to judge and observe this kind of language phenomenon objectively, we should investigate words from language activities in realities by collecting enough data of spoken language as well as written languages. It is equally necessary to collect statistics on data from questionnaires of the degrees of understanding and usage of loan words along with the analysis of actual data. Thus, it should be expected to draw an objective conclusion with the elimination of researchers' subjective judgments by supplementing these deficient parts and methodologies.
