This is study about Painting with a character in Korean folk painting that is Korean traditional pattern. It is showed the possibility of visual motives in modern design and the alternative proposal about the social problems such as dehumanization and disorder of social norm in modern society. Because, the painting has both of value of painting itself as well as emotional value through Korean history.

한국 전통문양인 민화 문자도의 표현내용과 양식을 고찰하고 현대디자인의 시각적 모티브로서의 가능성뿐만 아니라 현대사회가 않고 있는 비인간화 및 사회 규범의 문란화 문제에 대해 시각적 모티브를 활용한 대안으로서 회화적 가치와 정신적 가치를 동시에 지니고 있는 한국 고유의 민화 문자도의 가능성에 대해 제시하고자 한다.
