Misty aesthetics (monglongmei) is an important mode of artistic expression and a long-discussed aesthetic concept across both Eastern and Western painting traditions. Focusing on the painter He Duoling as its research subject, this study employs hazy aesthetics as the central analytical lens to examine the emotional expression, the formation of yijing (artistic conception), and the distinctiveness of his pictorial language. The paper first reviews the concept of menglongmei and traces how its aesthetic characteristics have developed within Chinese and international aesthetic traditions. It then analyzes how He Duoling constructs a hazy visual atmosphere through concrete formal elements—composition, color, and painting techniques—and how these elements work together to convey emotions that are both restrained and profound.He Duoling’s paintings inherit the Chinese aesthetic idea of liubai (white space or leaving blank) and poetic modes of expression, while also actively incorporating expressive strategies from Western modern painting. Through this hybrid approach, his works generate a distinctive form of menglongmei on both visual and psychological levels. By closely reading his use of compositional structure, chromatic organization, and technical handling alongside the production of yijing, this study reconsiders the expressive potential and aesthetic extensibility of menglongmei in contemporary Chinese painting and offers new perspectives and theoretical implications for related discussions.

몽롱미(朦朧美)는 중요한 예술적 표현 방식의 하나로서, 동서양 회화 예술 전반에서 지속적 으로 논의되어 온 미학적 개념이다. 본 논문은 허다령의 회화 양식을 연구 대상으로 삼아, 몽롱미를 분석의 핵심 단서로 설정하고 그의 작품에 나타난 정서적 표현, 의경(意境)의 형성, 그리고 조형 언 어의 독자성을 고찰하고자 한다. 먼저 몽롱미의 개념과 그 미학적 특성이 중외 미학 전통 속에서 어 떻게 전개되어 왔는지를 검토한 후, 허다령이 회화 창작 과정에서 구도, 색채, 기법 등의 조형 요소 를 활용하여 몽롱한 시각적 분위기를 조성하고, 함축적이면서도 심층적인 감정을 어떻게 표현하고 있는지를 분석한다. 허다령의 회화 작품은 중국 전통 미학의 ‘여백(留白)’ 사상과 시적 표현을 계 승하는 동시에, 서구 현대 회화의 표현 기법을 적극적으로 수용함으로써 시각적 차원과 심리적 차원 모두에서 독특한 몽롱미의 미적 특성을 형성하고 있다. 본 연구는 허다령의 회화 예술에 대한 분석 을 통해, 몽롱미가 현대 중국 회화 예술에서 지니는 표현 가능성과 미학적 확장성을 재고하는 데 새 로운 시각과 이론적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.
