Background: Quantum medicine is an academic field that applies concepts and principles of quantum physics to understand physiological phenomena and to develop diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for disease. In recent years, however, the term ‘quantum’ has increasingly been combined with concepts such as energy medicine, bioresonance, and informational medicine, and has been commercially narrated and consumed in the health and healing market despite ambiguous scientific foundations. Purpose: This study distinguishes quantum medicine from pseudo-quantum medicine and examines the actual nature of technologies and devices described under the narrative of quantum medicine. Results: Based on a review of the literature, most commercially distributed technologies described as quantum medicine were found to have little connection with biophysical phenomena at the molecular or electronic level. The physical energy used by these devices and the mechanisms purported to produce medical effects remain largely undefined. Furthermore, such narrative-based quantum medical technologies are difficult to subject to Institutional Review Board (IRB) review, making it challenging to conduct randomized controlled trials to evaluate their clinical efficacy and safety. Conclusion: Narrative quantum medicine lacks substantive technological or theoretical connections with quantum mechanics and is therefore difficult to justify as legitimate quantum medicine. For quantum medicine to develop as a credible complementary or integrative medical technology, it is essential to establish quantitative definitions of physical energy, clarify biological mechanisms of action, conduct reproducible clinical research, and clearly distinguish scientific concepts from marketing language.

배경: 양자 의학은 양자 물리학의 개념 및 원리를 생리 현상 및 질병을 이해하고 진단 및 치료에 활용하는 학술 적인 영역이다. 최근, 양자란 용어가 에너지 의학, 바이오레조넌스, 정보 의학 등과 결합되어 건강과 치유 영역에서 과학적 근거가 모호한 상태로 양자 의학으로 서사되며 소비되고 있다. 목적: 본 논문에서는 양자 의학과 유사 양자 의학의 개념과 경계를 구분하고, 양자 의학으로 서사되는 기술 및 도구의 실체를 고찰하고자 한다. 결과: 상업적으로 유통되는 대부분의 양자 의학 기술은 분자 및 전자 수준의 생물 물리학적 현상과 관련되지 못하며, 사용되는 에너지 와 의학적 효과를 야기하는 기전이 모호한 것으로 관련 학술 문헌 고찰을 통해 확인되었다. 이러한 서사적인 양자 의학 기술은 IRB 심의의 대상이 될 수 없어, 임상적 유효성과 안전성을 평가하기 위한 무작위 대조 임상 시험을 수행하기 어렵다. 결론: 서사적인 양자 의학은 양자 역학과 기술적인 관련성이 없으며, 양자 의학으로 정당화되기 어렵다. 양자 의학이 건전한 대체·통합의학 기술로 발전하기 위해서는 물리적 에너지의 정량적 정의, 생물학적 작 용 기전 규명, 재현 가능한 임상 연구 및 과학과 마케팅 언어의 구분이 필수적이다.
