The purpose of this study is to identify the degree and structure of nursing students’ perceptions of older adults, to describe the essential nature of this concept, and thereby provide foundational data for the effective development and implementation of curricula in gerontological nursing. The method of this study was content analysis, in which the descriptions written in the pre-course diagnostic reports of nursing students at a university located in Gyeonggi Province were systematically categorized and analyzed to examine their perceptions of older adults. Five categories and fifteen themes were derived. The findings of this study indicate the need for an in-depth exploration of nursing students’ perceptions of older adults, as well as the necessity of developing a more practical gerontological nursing curriculum that reflects the characteristics of older adults in a super-aged society.

본 연구의 목적은 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 인식에 대한 정도와 구조를 규명함으로써 그 개념의 본질을 기술하여 노인간호학 교과목의 효율적인 교육과정 운영에 기초자료를 제공하고자 함이다. 본 연구의 방법은 경기 소재 대학 간호학과 학생들의 노인에 대한 인식을 확인하기 위해 교과목의 사전진단 보고서 를 바탕으로 기술된 내용을 체계적으로 범주화하여 분석한 내용분석 방법이다. 연구첫 번째 범주는 노인의 정의로써 ‘나이가 많은 사람’, ‘돌봄이 필요한 사람’으로, 두 번째 범주는 노인의 신체적 특징으로 써 ‘근골격계가 약함’, ‘감각기능이 저하됨’, ‘주름짐’으로, 세 번째 범주는 노인의 정서적 특징으로써 ‘불안과 우울’, ‘외로움’으로, 네 번째 범주는 노인의 사회적 특징으로써 ‘자살생각’, ‘사회적 고립’, ‘부양 의 대상’으로, 다섯 번째 범주는 노인 간호의 이슈로써 ‘노인 시설의 인권’, ‘사회적 고립’, ‘노인자살’, ‘연령주의’, ‘만성질환 관리’로 총 5개 범주에서 15개의 주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 결과 간호대학생들 의 노인에 대한 인식이 무엇인지 심층적으로 탐색할 필요와 초고령사회 노인의 특성을 반영한 더욱 실질적인 노인간호학 교과과정 개발이 필요함을 보여준다.
