초록

영어

This study explored young adult carers' health-related caregiving experiences in South Korea. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted between December 2024 and February 2025, and data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Fifteen young adult carers participated, all of whom experienced various health-related challenges. Three themes were generated: uncertainty in unpredictable caregiving situations, chaotic treatment processes and healthcare systems, and lack of information alongside the need for structured support. Participants provided care at a paraprofessional level, often facing unfamiliar illnesses and emergencies with limited guidance and relying on informal information sources. Their experiences underscore the need for tailored, nursing-led educational and intervention programs and highlight the importance of better understanding this hidden population to inform nursing practice, policy development, and educational support.
