In Korea, cases of suspected abuse of persons with disabilities have increased by 154% and cases of confirmed abuse have increased by 150% between 2019 and 2023. This study searched for articles using the BigKinds system using the keywords "persons with disabilities," "abuse," and "abuse of persons with disabilities" reported in 2023. The final 178 articles were analyzed and categorized into "incident-centered" and "context-centered." The analysis revealed that 170 (95.5%) of news articles on disability abuse were "incident-centered," while eight were "context-centered." Thematic analysis was used to analyze the content of the news articles. The purpose of this study was to contribute to improving awareness of persons with disabilities and the advancement of their human rights. Based on this analysis, several implications were suggested.

우리나라는 2007년 「장애인차별금지법」제정 및 2015년 「장애인복지법」개정을 통해 장애인 학대에 대한 법적 규정을 강화하고, 장애인 학대 신고의무자 범위를 확대함을써 장애인의 인권을 보호하고 향상시키기 위한 노력을 하였다. 그럼에도 불구하고 장애인 학대는 2019년 대비 2023년에는 학대의심사 례 154%, 학대판정사례 150%가 증가한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 본 연구는 빅카인즈 시스템을 통해 2023년 에 보도된 ‘장애인’, ‘학대’, ‘장애인 학대’로 기사를 검색한 후, 최종 178건의 기사를 분석하여, ‘사건 중심’과 ‘맥락 중심’의 기사로 유형화 하였다. 연구 분석 결과 뉴스 기사에서 다뤄지는 장애인 학대는 ‘사건 중심’의 기사가 170건(95.5%)를 차지하였으며, ‘맥락 중심’의 뉴스 기사는 8건으로 나타났다. 뉴스 기사 내용 분석은 주제분석법을 실시하였다. 기사를 분석함으로써 장애인 인식개선과 장애인 인권향상 에 기여하는 데 연구목적을 두었으며, 이를 토대로 몇 가지 시사점을 제시하였다.
