This study examined the mediating role of career preparation behavior in the relationship between career decision-making autonomy and subjective well-being among first-year university students without a declared major. A survey was administered in April 2025 to 115 freshmen admitted through an undeclared major system, and data from 114 valid responses were analyzed. Pearson’s correlation, t-tests, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression with bootstrapping were employed to test the mediating effect. The results indicated significant positive associations among career decision-making autonomy, career preparation behavior, and subjective well-being. Career preparation behavior fully mediated the relationship between career decision-making autonomy and subjective well-being. These findings highlight the need for career-education programs that emphasize practical exploration and information-gathering activities rather than cognitive traits alone. The study offers empirical evidence that can inform strategies to support the adaptation of undeclared freshmen and guide the development of effective career-education interventions.

본 연구에서는 무전공 대학 입학 신입생의 진로결정자율성과 주관적 안녕감의 관계를 진로준비행동이 매개하는지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 K시에 위치한 4년제 종합대학 무전공 입학 신입생 115명을 대상으로 2025년 4월에 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 114명의 설문 자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석에는 pearson상관분석, t-검증, ANOVA, 위계적회귀분석과 같은 통계분석 방법을 활용하였으 며, 매개효과의 유의미성을 검증하기 위해 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping)을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 진로결 정자율성, 진로준비행동, 주관적 안녕감 간에는 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타났으며, 진로준비행동이 진로결정자율성과 주관적 안녕감 간의 관계를 완전 매개하였다. 이는 무전공 대학 입학 신입생의 주관적 안녕감 증진을 위해 인지적 특성보다는 실질적인 진로탐색 및 정보수집 행동과 같은 행동적 요소를 강화하는 진로교육프로그램 개발 및 운영이 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 무전공 입학 제도를 활용하여 대학에 진입한 신입생들의 대학생활 적응 및 진로교육 방안 수립을 위한 실증적 근거 자료를 제공했다는 점에 의의가 있다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 후속 연구를 위한 제안점도 함께 제시하였다.
