This study examined the mediating role of empathic listening in the relationship between literacy and problem-solving ability among third- and fourth-year nursing students belonging to the MZ generation. Data were collected from March 10 to May 30, 2025, and analyzed using IBM SPSS 27.0, Process Macro 4.3v, and bootstrapping procedures. The results indicated that nursing students’ literacy skills, particularly idiom comprehension, significantly and positively influenced their empathic listening skills (B = .826, t = 8.172, p < .001), explaining 54.5% of the variance. Furthermore, both idiom comprehension and empathic listening skills exerted a significant positive effect on problem-solving ability (B = .795, t = 7.588, p < .001), accounting for 54.4% of the variance. The mediating role of empathic listening was found to be statistically significant, with an indirect effect (Boot B = 1.062, Boot LLCI = .539, Boot ULCI = 1.648). These findings suggest that various literacy and empathic listening skills should be strengthened in the basic nursing curriculum for MZ generation students before they enter clinical practice.

본 연구는 MZ세대 간호대학생의 문해력과 문제해결 능력의 관계에서 공감적 경청 능력의 매개 효과를 확인하고자 시행한 서술적 조사 연구이다. 연구 대상은 MZ세대에 속하며 S시, J시, C시 지역 소재의 간호대학에 재학 중인 3, 4학년 간호대학생이다. 자료수집 기간은 2025년 3월 10일부터 5월 30일까지이며 수집한 자료는 IBM SPSS 27.0 프로그램과 Process Macro 4.3v, 매개 효과 유의성 검증은 Bootstrapping을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과로는, 간호대학생의 문해력 중 관용어 이해 능력이 공감적 경청 능력에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤고(B=.826, t=8.172, p<.001), 54.5%의 설명력이 있었다. 문해력 중 관용어 이해 능력과 공감적 경청 능력은 문제해결 능력에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤고(B=.795, t=7.588, p<.001), 54.4%의 설명 력을 보였으며 매개효과로는 간접 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다(Boot B=1.062, Boot LLCI=.539, Boot LUCI=1.648). 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 MZ세대의 특성을 이해하고 임상실습에 앞서 기초 교육과정에서 부터 간호대학생의 다양한 리터러시 역량을 증진하는 방안이 요구된다.
