This qualitative study examined college students' intention to remain single and factors associated with it. It aimed to deeply analyze their perceptions of non-marriage, cohabitation, and childbirth outside of marriage. The research question was: What do college students think about non-marriage? In-depth interviews were conducted with 12 college students of N Univ. in Chungnam and M Univ. in Seoul. Data were collected from November 23 to December 5, 2025, using a qualitative research method using in-depth interviews. The results of this study are as follows. Participants provided nine experiential themes and five cluster themes. The themes included: "Marriage is an unnecessary institution," "Clear reasons for choosing not to marry," "Difficulties in marriage due to two people," "The bright side of the coin, the dark side of the coin," "Would you rather live alone if you're not married?" and "What are the childbirth outcomes like for those who have children outside of marriage?", “is cohabitation a premarital choice?”, and “the ripple effect of being single”. Thematic groups were formed around topics such as choosing to go solo, the two sides of the coin of being single, the various aspects of being single, cohabitation of premarital choice, and the ripple effect of being single. This study explored college students' current views on marriage and their thoughts on being single, thereby providing insight into the meaning and importance of their values regarding marriage and family. Furthermore, it contributed to fostering the understanding that college students' thoughts about being single can be one of many options for life choices.

본 연구는 대학생의 비혼의향과 비혼관련 요인에 대한 질적 연구로 대학생의 비혼에 대한 비혼의향, 비혼 출산, 비혼동거 등에 대한 인식을 심층적으로 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구질문은 대학생들은 비혼, 비혼출산 과 비혼동거에 대해 어떻게 생각하는가이다. 본 연구참여자는 서울과 경기, 충청, 강원, 경상지역에 본가가 있는 충남지역 N대와 서울지역 M대의 12명 대학생을 심층인터뷰 하였다. 자료수집은 2025년 11월 23일부터 12월 5일 까지 수집되었으며 심층인터뷰를 통한 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 참여자 들은 9개 체험주제와 5개 클러스터주제를 제공했다. 주제는 결혼은 불필요한 제도, 비혼선택의 분명한 이유, 둘로 인한 결혼의 어려윰, 동전의 밝은 앞면, 동전의 어두운 뒷면, 비혼상황에서 1인가구로 살것인가? 비혼출산에서 자 녀출산은 어떠한가?, 비혼동거는 결혼전 선택인가?, 비혼의 파장효과 등이며. 혼자가는 길 선택, 비혼이라는 동전 의 양면, 비혼의 각양각색, 비혼동거의 선택, 비혼의 파장효과 등으로 주제묶음이 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 대학생의 현 결혼관과 비혼에 대한 생각 등 대학생의 결혼과 가족에 대한 가치관의 의미와 중요성을 깨달을 수 있고 대학 생의 결혼과 가족에 대한 가치관을 이해할 수 있게 하였다. 또한 대학생의 비혼관련 생각이 삶의 선택에 있어 다 양한 방식 중의 하나일 수 있다는 인식을 심어주는데 기여하였다.
