The purpose of this study was to test the effect of experiencing discrimination on feelings of isolation, in adolescents, mediated by self-esteem and human rights awareness. For the purpose, path analysis was conducted and the main results are as follows: First, adolescents' experiences as victims of discrimination were positively correlated with their experiences as perpetrators of discrimination. Second, adolescents' experiences as victims or perpetrators of discrimination were negatively correlated with their self-esteem and human rights awareness, and positively correlated with their feelings of isolation. Third, adolescents' self-esteem was positively correlated with their human rights awareness, and negatively correlated with their feelings of isolation. Fourth, adolescents' self-esteem and human rights awareness were found to mediate the effects of adolescents' experiences of being victims and perpetrators of discrimination on feelings of isolation. This study, based on these results, suggested policy and practical directions for enhancing self-esteem and human rights awareness and reducing feelings of isolation in adolescents who have experienced victims and perpetrators of discrimination.

본 연구는 청소년의 차별에 대한 경험이 자아존중감과 인권 의식을 매개로 고 립감에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 경로분석을 실시하였으며 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 차별 피해 경험이 많으면, 동시에 차별 가해 경험도 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 차별 피해 경험과 차별 가해 경험이 늘어날수록 자아존 중감과 인권 의식은 모두 하락하였으나 고립감은 상승하였다. 셋째, 자아존중감 이 상승할수록 인권 의식도 상승하지만, 고립감은 하락하는 경향이 있었다. 넷째, 청소년의 차별 피해 경험과 차별 가해 경험이 고립감에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감과 인권 의식이 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 청소년 의 차별 피해 경험과 차별 가해 경험이 있더라도 자아존중감, 인권 의식을 높이 고 고립감을 낮추기 위한 정책적·실천적 방향을 제시하였다.
