This paper examines how cognition is constructed and experienced within contemporary technological environments through media art practice. Drawing on Katherine Hayles’s concept of the Cognisphere, it proposes Synthetic Cognisphere as a speculative cognitive field in which human, machinic, and nonhuman processes are entangled. Through an analysis of the media art installation (2022), the study shows how cognition emerges not as conscious interpretation but as a nonconscious process shaped by autonomous algorithmic operations and environmental interaction. By approaching media art as a cognitive field rather than limiting it to an artistic presentation, this paper proposes an alternative framework in which media art functions as an experimental condition for cognition.

본 연구는 동시대 기술 환경 속에서 인지가 어떻게 구성되고 경험되는지를 미디어아트 실천을 통해 탐구한다. Katherine Hayles의 Cognisphere 개념을 바탕으로, 인간과 기계, 비인간적 요소가 얽힌 합성적 인지 장으로서 Synthetic Cognisphere를 제안한다. 이 개념 이 경험 가능한 환경으로 구성된 필자의 미디어아트 작품 (2022) 분석을 통해, 인지가 재현이나 의식적 해석이 아닌 알고리즘적 작동과 환경적 조건 속에서 비의식적으로 형성되는 과정임을 살펴본다. 본 연구는 미디어아트를 인지가 발생하는 조건 을 실험하는 장으로 사유하기 위한 하나의 관점과 방법론을 제안한다.
