Social Networking Services for Collaborative Research Environments

초록

영어

With the increasing importance of collaboration in R&D, social networking and communication among researchers are emphasized, necessitating the development of a research life-cycling framework that systematically manages and shares research activities and outcomes. Therefore, it is crucial to obtain a general understanding of social networking services that enable researchers to share work, network with colleagues, and connect with researchers from around the world working on similar research topics. Researchers' motivations for using social media include personal motivation, the technical aspects of social tools—easy access and ease of use—and the perception that social tools can contribute to faster and more efficient research. Researchers benefit from social media, in particular, by effectively communicating with diverse individuals in remote locations. Studies show that researchers perceive a variety of positive benefits from using social media. In addition to the ability to connect with individuals across diverse fields, a key advantage is the ability to overcome geographical limitations. By analyzing various social networking services for researcher collaboration, this study aims to develop a platform model that comprehensively supports researchers' work, foster collaboration among researchers, and derive implications for efficient research support services.
