The purpose of this study is to propose an integrated model of Korean language and culture education using television dramas, with a focus on funeral and mourning culture. Based on a culture-centered, integrated language approach, this study designs instructional content and a lesson model incorporating both linguistic and cultural dimensions. Funeral-related scenes from My Mister, Live, and Mr. Sunshine were selected as instructional materials, and the target learners were set at TOPIK Levels 3 to 6 in accordance with the cultural domain and vocabulary and grammar levels of the Internationally Used Korean Standard Curriculum (Phase 4). Instructional content was organized into four domains—cultural knowledge, cultural perspectives, linguistic knowledge, and language skills— with emphasis on cultural knowledge and perspectives. In addition, a lesson model was designed using My Mister as the primary material, structured into pre-viewing, while-viewing, and post-viewing stages. In the post-viewing stage, learners compare and discuss funeral practices in their own cultures and in Korean society based on narrative understanding, thereby fostering an intercultural perspective that views cultural differences as objects of interpretation and reflection rather than fixed norms. This study is significant in that it presents funeral and mourning culture as a meaningful topic in integrated Korean language and culture education and suggests the practical potential of television drama-based instruction.

본 연구의 목적은 TV 드라마를 교육 콘텐츠로 활용하여 한국의 상·장례 문화를 주제로 문화 중심의 언어 통합형 관점에 따른 교육 내용을 구성하고, 이를 바탕으로 수업 모형을 설계하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 교육 제 재로는 『나의 아저씨』, 『라이브』, 『미스터 션샤인』의 장례 관련 장면을 활용하였으며, 연구 대상은 국제 통용 한국어 표준 교육과정 적용 연구(4단계)에 따른 문화 영역과 어휘·문법 등급을 고려하여 TOPIK 3급에서 6급 학습자로 설정하였다. 본 연구는 문화 중심의 언어 통합형 수업으로서 교육 내용을 문화 지식, 문화 관점, 언어 지식, 언어 기술의 네 영역으로 구성하되, 문화 지식과 관점에 중점을 두었다. 또한, 『나의 아저씨』를 제재로 시청 전–시청–시청 후 단계의 수업 모형을 설계하여, 학습자가 서사 이해를 바탕으로 문화 지식과 문화 실행을 파악하고, 이를 토대로 자국의 장례 문화와 한국의 사례를 비교·논의하도록 하였다. 이를 통해 문화 차이를 고정된 규범이 아닌 해석과 성찰의 대상으로 인식하는 상호문화주의적 문화 관점을 형성하고자 하였 다. 본 연구는 상·장례 문화를 한국어 문화교육의 의미 있는 주제로 제시하고, 드라마를 활용한 문화 중심 통 합 교육의 실천적 가능성을 확장하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
