This study asserts that, given the pervasive importance of culture in the contemporary era, preaching must evolve into "cultural preaching" that reflects and engages with its cultural context. To explore a concrete methodology for this approach, this paper adopts Kevin J. Vanhoozer’s theology of the "Drama of God" as a theological framework and utilizes John S. McClure’s "Cultural Code" theory as an analytical tool to propose a methodology for "Cultural Preaching as the Drama of God." For Vanhoozer, the Bible serves as the script for the "Drama of God," doctrine provides the directional cues, and the Holy Spirit acts as the director. Furthermore, we as Christians are actors performing improvisational roles on the stage of life. This framework allows for an integrated analysis of the relationship between preaching and culture according to McClure’s typologies: the identificational, dialectical, dualistic, and sectarian styles. Through the synthesis of these two theories, this study argues that true cultural preaching reveals the Triune God as the Lord of culture and seeks to manifest His divine intent within the world. To this end, it suggests that among McClure’s styles, the "Dialectical Style"— which neither simply accommodates nor flatly rejects culture but transforms distorted cultural elements through the light of the Gospel—is the type that best embodies cultural preaching as the drama of God. However, acknowledging the limitations that arise when preaching is restricted solely to the dialectical style, the study recommends an expanded application of other styles while maintaining the dialectical approach as the core. For such cultural preaching, the preacher is called to be both a "theological interpreter" and a "cultural director," first participating in the drama of God to lead the congregation.

본 논문은 시대를 지배하는 문화의 중요성에 입각하여 설교 역시 문화를 담은 문화적 설교가 되어야 함을 주장한다. 그리고 이를 위한 구체적 설교 방법 모색으로 케빈 밴후저 (Kevin J. Vanhoozer)의 ‘하나님의 드라마’ 신학을 설교의 신학적 틀로 삼고, 존 맥클루어 (John S. McClure)의 ‘문화코드(Cultural Code)’ 이론을 분석의 도구로 사용하여 ‘하나님 드라마로서의 문화적 설교’ 방법론을 제시한다. 밴후저에게 성경은 ‘하나님의 드라마’ 대본 이고, 교리는 연출 지침이며, 성령은 감독이다. 그리고 그리스도인인 우리는 삶의 무대에서 즉흥 연기를 펼치는 배우이다. 이러한 틀은 맥클루어가 유형화한 설교와 문화의 관계 즉 ‘동일시, 변증법적, 이원론적, 분파주의적 스타일’로 통합 분석하여 문화적 설교를 구축할 수 있게 한다. 본고는 두 이론의 통합을 통해, 문화의 주인이신 삼위 하나님을 드러내고 그 분의 의도가 세상에 구현되도록 하는 것이 참된 문화적 설교임을 주장한다. 그러기 위해 맥클루어의 스타일 중 문화를 단순히 수용하거나 거부하는 것이 아닌, 어그러진 문화 를 복음의 빛으로 변혁하는 ‘변증법적 스타일(Dialectical Style)’이 하나님 드라마로서의 문화적 설교를 잘 드러내는 유형임을 제언한다. 그러나 변증법적 스타일로 국한시켜 설교 를 할 경우에 발생하는 한계가 있음으로, 변증법적 스타일을 중심으로 한 다른 스타일의 사용 확장을 권하는 바이다. 설교자에게는 이러한 문화적 설교를 위해 ‘신학적 해석자’이자 ‘문화적 연출가’로서, 먼저 하나님 드라마에 참여하여 회중을 이끄는 것이 요청된다.
