This study aimed to reveal the essence of Korean basic dance education by exploring teaching content and its components. To this end, 12 instructors and 7 learners were selected through purposeful sampling. Data were collected from in-depth interviews, stimulated recall interviews, non-participatory observations, and field documents and analyzed by description-analysis-interpretation. As a result, basic dance teaching content was analyzed according to ‘physical dimension’, ‘knowledge dimension’, and ‘spirit dimension’. First, skill content was derived as ① posture & physical strength, ② dance movement & activity, and ③ breathing & gaze. Second, knowledge content was derived as ① history & terminology, ② rhythm & music, and ③ application ability & creativity. Third, spirit content was derived as ① honesty & commitment, ② philosophy & virtue, and ③ emotion & aesthetics. The study provided implications for the curriculum and teaching strategies of Korean basic dance by clarifying its multi-layered structure.

본 연구의 목적은 한국무용 기본무의 교수내용과 구성요소를 탐색함으로써 기본무 교육의 본질을 밝히는 데 있다. 이를 위해 교수자 12인과 학습자 7인을 유목적적 표집으로 선정했다. 자료는 심층면담, 자극회상면담, 비참여관찰, 현지문서를 통해 수집되었으며, 기술-분석-해석의 단계에 따라 범주화되었다. 연구 결과, 기본무의 교수내용은 ‘기능적 차원’, ‘지식적 차원’, ‘정신적 차원’에 따라 분석되었다. 첫째, 기능적 내용은 ‘자세와 체력’, ‘춤사위와 능동성’, ‘호흡과 시선’으로 구성되었고, 둘째, 지식적 내용은 ‘역사와 용어’, ‘장단과 음악’, ‘응용력과 창의력’으로 구성되었으며, 셋째, 정신적 내용은 ‘정직과 몰입’, ‘철학과 덕목’, ‘정서와 미감’으로 구성되었다. 이 를 통해 기본무의 교수내용과 구성요소의 다층적 구조를 밝히고, 향후 기본무 교육과정 및 교수전략 설계에 대 한 시사점을 제시하였다.
