This study analyzes the structure and content of dance education within the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and explores its relevance for Korean dance education. Through qualitative document analysis of IB official texts across the PYP, MYP, and DP, the study reviewed educational goals, teaching–learning structures, and assessment methods. The findings show that IB dance emphasizes an integrated framework of composition, analysis, and performance, a cyclical inquiry model, multicultural perspectives through world dance, and performance-based assessment. These features suggest practical directions for improving Korea’s practice- and outcome-centered dance education. The study recommends composition-focused teaching, integration of theory and practice, multicultural expansion, and enhanced performance assessment, highlighting the potential to adapt IB philosophy and structure to the Korean curriculum in creative and practical ways.

본 연구는 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 교육과정 내 무용교육의 구조와 교육내용을 분석하고, 이를 국내 무용교육에 적 용할 수 있는 가능성과 시사점을 탐색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 질적문헌연구 방법을 통해 IB 예술교육 과정의 초등(PYP), 중등(MYP), 고등(DP) 단계에 걸친 교육목표, 교수학습 구조, 평가방식을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 IB 예술교육과정의 전반적 구조와 특징을 확인하고, 무용교육의 목표·학습영역·평가 방식을 분석하였으며, 이를 국내 체육과 교육과정의 ‘표현활동’ 영역과 비교하여 차이와 연계 가능성을 도출하였다. 나아가 IB 무용교 육의 특징이 국내 무용교육에 적용될 수 있는 가능성을 탐색하였다. IB 무용교육은 창작·분석·공연의 통합 구조, 순환적 탐구 모델, 세계무용을 통한 다문화적 접근, 수행 중심 평가를 특징으로 하며, 이는 국내 무용교육의 한 계를 보완하는 방향을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 이에 따라 창작 중심 교수학습, 이론과 실기의 통합, 다문화적 접 근 확대, 수행 중심 평가체계 개선, IB 기반 교육과정 개발 연구의 필요성을 제언하였으며, 이러한 논의는 IB 무 용교육의 철학과 구조를 국내 교육과정에 창의적이고 실천적으로 접목할 수 있는 가능성을 보여준다.
