This study aimed to examine the experiences of teachers who teach once-a-week play classes for first and second grade elementary school students and, based on these experiences, to examine the need for dedicated healthy living teachers. This case study involved two subject teachers, two elementary school teachers working as first and second grade homeroom teachers, and parents of second grade children at Minguk Elementary School in Daehan Metropolitan City. The research period was set at March 2024 to September 2025, with the participants serving as subject teachers and homeroom teachers for one year, respectively. The subject teachers taught physical education classes for third and fourth graders twice a week and also led weekly playtime for first and second graders. A researcher working at the same school shared a classroom and observed their preparation and teaching practices. The researchers also conducted in-depth interviews with the participants and collected documentary data, including the school curriculum. The diverse data collected through various channels were analyzed inductively, with the aim of deriving the following findings. The research results were categorized into two themes: “Framework” and “Healthy Living Teachers.” Within this framework, “Framework” was categorized into two subthemes: “Matching the Puzzle (Class Hours)” and “Separate Planners and Practitioners.?” “Healthy Living Teachers” were further subdivided into three categories: “Play Before Safety,” “Paramedics for Lower Grades' Health,” and “Demonstrator.” Considering these results, we can see the problem of the unreasonable method of assigning subjects to dedicated teachers based on simple class hours. To prevent the passive curriculum planning and assessment of play teachers assigned to once-a-week classes, “Healthy Living” should be assigned exclusively to subject-matter teachers. This will allow for an organic, proactive approach to curriculum planning, instruction, assessment, and documentation. This will enable educational authorities to develop policies that meet the needs of teachers, students, and parents.

이 연구는 초등학교 1ㆍ2학년 학생을 대상으로 주 1회 놀이수업을 하는 교사들의 경험을 살펴보고 그것을 바탕으 로 건강한 생활 전담교사의 필요성을 살펴보는 데 목적을 두고 있다. A광역시 B초등학교에 근무하는 2명의 교 과전담교사와 1ㆍ2학년 담임으로 근무하는 2명의 초등교사, 2학년 자녀를 둔 학부모를 연구참여자로 목적표집하 여 사례연구를 하였다. 2024년 3월부터 2025년 12월까지를 연구 기간으로 정하였으며, 2024년 3월부터 연구 참여자들은 각각 1년간 교과전담교사와 담임교사로 근무하였다. 교과전담교사들은 3․4학년 체육수업을 주 2회 담당하면서 1ㆍ2학년을 대상으로 주 1회의 놀이시간을 함께 지도하였다. 같은 학교에서 근무하는 연구자는 교과 실을 함께 사용하며 수업을 준비하는 모습과 수업하는 장면들을 관찰하였으며, 연구참여자들과 수시 면담과 심 층 면담을 하고 학교 교육과정 등 문서자료를 수집하였다. 여러 가지 경로를 통해 수집된 다양한 형태의 자료들 은 귀납적 분석을 통해 연구한 결과, 다음과 같은 연구결과가 도출되었다. 연구 결과, ‘틀 짜기’, ‘건생 전담교사’ 이라는 2가지의 주제로 구분할 수 있었다. 이 가운데 ‘틀 짜기’는 ‘퍼즐(수업시수) 맞추기’, ‘짜는 사람 따로, 하는 사람 따로’의 2가지의 소주제로 범주화할 수 있었고, ‘건생 전담교사’는 ‘안전보다 놀이’, ‘저학년 건강을 위한 구급대원’, ‘시범맨’의 3가지 범주로 나눌 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 고려해 볼 때, 단순한 시수 계산으로 전담교 사가 맡을 교과를 정하는 불합리적인 방법의 문제점을 알 수 있었으며, 주 1회 수업을 맡은 놀이전담교사의 수동적인 교육과정 구성과 평가 등의 문제점을 예방하기 위해서 ‘건강한 생활’을 교과전담교사에서 전적으로 배정 하여 능동적인 교육과정 구성, 수업, 평가, 기록이 유기적으로 진행될 수 있도록 하여 교사, 학생, 학부모의 요구에 부합하는 방향으로 교육 당국이 정책을 수립해 나갈 필요가 있다.
