The purpose of this study is to provide foundational data for instructional design and improvement in the expression domain of physical education by comparatively analyzing the structure and content characteristics of the expression domain in elementary physical education textbooks for Grades 3–4, developed under the 2022 revised curriculum, and by identifying differences among publishers. This study employed a literature review along with a comparative content analysis of six textbooks (three for Grade 3 and three for Grade 4) as research materials. The results are as follows. First, in terms of structure, the Grade 3 textbooks aim to develop expressive abilities centered on movement expression, and are organized in the sequence of unit introduction → activities → closure, emphasizing creativity and expressive power. The Grade 4 textbooks emphasize imitation and abstract expression, focusing on developing expressive abilities through rhythm and tools. They are structured in the sequence of unit introduction → concept learning → activities → creation and closure, with an emphasis on creative thinking and applying expression in daily life. Second, regarding content characteristics, the Grade 3 textbooks highlight experiential activities, character exploration, theoretical understanding, creative convergence activities, activity-centered tasks, and choreography creation. The Grade 4 textbooks, on the other hand, incorporate digital technology, diverse tool-based activities, and activities connected to real-life contexts. Third, areas for improvement include achieving a balance between theory and practice, strengthening creative expression, integrating digital technology, converging with other subjects, introducing diverse evaluation methods, and reinforcing connections to everyday life. Based on these findings, the study suggests the following: First, instructional improvements are needed to enhance creativity and practicality. Second, a diverse and balanced evaluation system should be established.

본 연구는 2022 개정 교육과정에 따라 개발된 초등 체육교과서 3-4학년군 표현 영역을 대상으로 구성 체계와 내용 특성을 비교·분석하여 출판사별 차이를 밝힘으로써 표현 영역의 교수·학습 설계 및 개선을 위한 기초 자료 를 제공하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 문헌 연구와 함께 초등 체육교과서 3-4학년군 각 3권, 총 6권을 연 구 대상으로 선정하여 자료를 수집하고, 내용을 분석하며 비교하는 연구 방법을 활용하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 구성 체계는 3학년에서 움직임 표현 중심의 표현 능력 개발을 목표로 구성되어 있다. 과정은 단원 도입→활동→정리 순으로 창의성과 표현력을 강조하는 활동으로 구성되어 있다. 4학년에서 모방 및 추상 표현을 강조하고, 리듬 및 도구를 활용한 표현 능력 개발을 목표로 구성되어 있다. 과정은 단원 도입→개념 학습→활동 →창작 및 정리 순으로 창의적 사고와 생활 속 표현 적용을 강조하는 활동으로 구성되어 있다. 둘째, 내용 특성 은 3학년에서 체험 활동 중심과 인물 탐구, 이론적 이해 강조와 창의 융합 활동 제공, 활동 중심과 안무 창작 활 동 등으로 나타났다. 4학년에서 디지털 기술 융합, 다양한 도구 활동, 생활과 연계된 활동 등으로 나타났다. 셋 째, 개선점은 이론과 실기의 균형, 창의적 표현 강화, 디지털 기술 활용, 타 교과와의 융합, 다양한 평가 방법 도 입, 생활 속 연계 강화 등이 필요하다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창의성과 실용성 강화를 위한 수업 개선이 필요하다. 둘째, 다양하고 균형 있는 평가 체계 확립이 필요하다.
