This study examined the effect of social support on life satisfaction among multicultural middle school students and investigated the mediating roles of self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy. Data from 1,712 participants were drawn from the fifth wave (2023) of the second panel of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and Hayes’ PROCESS Macro Model 6. The results showed that social support had a significant positive effect on life satisfaction, and that self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy each partially mediated this relationship. Moreover, a significant serial multiple mediation effect was identified, indicating that social support enhanced self-esteem, which in turn increased career decision-making self-efficacy and ultimately led to higher life satisfaction. These findings suggest that improving the quality of life of multicultural middle school students requires not only strengthening social support systems but also implementing school-based, integrated support frameworks that sequentially enhance self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy.

본 연구는 다문화 중학생을 대상으로 사회적지지가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분 석하고, 이 과정에서 자아존중감과 진로결정자기효능감의 매개효과를 규명하는 데 목 적이 있다. 이를 위해 다문화청소년패널조사(MAPS) 2기 5차(2023년) 자료 중 1,712명 의 데이터를 활용하여 기술통계, 상관분석, 그리고 PROCESS Macro Model 6을 통해 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 다문화 중학생의 사회적지지는 삶의 만족도에 유의한 정적 영 향을 미쳤으며, 자아존중감과 진로결정자기효능감은 각각 사회적지지와 삶의 만족도 간의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 두 변인의 직렬 이중매개효과가 확 인되어, 사회적지지가 자아존중감을 높이고, 이는 다시 진로결정자기효능감을 향상시 켜 삶의 만족도로 이어지는 경로가 검증되었다. 이러한 결과는 다문화 청소년의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 사회적지지 체계 강화와 더불어, 학교를 중심으로 자아존중감과 진로 결정자기효능감을 단계적으로 증진하는 통합적 지원 체계의 필요성을 시사한다.
