This study examines the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU)’s view of the unity between religion and science through Ian G. Barbour’s fourfold typology: conflict, independence, dialogue, and integration. According to the FFWPU, religion and science were originally unified as the internal and external truths within God’s purpose of creation, but they became divided due to the human Fall. Throughout the providence of salvation, religion and science have been developing toward the recovery of their original unity. This theological perspective shows structural affinity with Barbour’s integration model, particularly his critical realism and the theology of nature approach. However, the FFWPU asserts that the complete unity of religion and science can be achieved only through the emergence of a new revelatory truth that transcends conventional revelation. Thus, the FFWPU’s view moves beyond Barbour’s critical realism toward a revelatory realism, proposing a fourth integrative type, revelatory integration, which encompasses and surpasses Barbour’s three forms of integration (natural theology, theology of nature, and systematic synthesis). In this view, the unity of religion and science is not merely an academic or epistemological issue but a providential restoration of the original purpose of creation, ultimately pointing toward a comprehensive metaphysical system grounded in new revelation.

본 논문은 이안 바부어의 네 가지 유형론, 곧 갈등, 독립, 대화, 통합을 바탕으로 세계평화통 일가정연합의 종교와 과학 통일론을 고찰하였다. 가정연합은 종교와 과학이 하나님의 창조목 적 안에서 본래 하나의 진리로 통일되어 있었으나, 인간의 타락으로 분리되었다고 본다. 그러 나 구원섭리를 통해 종교와 과학은 본래의 일치를 회복해 나간다고 본다. 이러한 관점은 바부 어의 통합 유형의 성격과 유사하다. 특히 비판적 실재론과 자연의 신학적 방법론, 그리고 체계 적 종합으로서 포괄적 형이상학의 필요성은 공통적이다. 그러나 가정연합은 종교와 과학의 통 합을 위해 기존 계시보다 더 포괄적인 새로운 계시적 진리가 필요하다고 주장한다. 본 논문은 가정연합의 종교와 과학 통일론이 바부어의 비판적 실재론을 포괄하면서 이를 초월하는 새로 운 계시적 실재론의 관점에 기초하고 있음을 고찰했다. 따라서 가정연합의 종교와 과학 통일론 은 바부어의 통합 유형론이 제시한 세 가지 방법(자연신학, 자연의 신학, 체계적 종합)과 유사 하면서도 독특함을 갖는 새로운 통합 유형이라고 할 수 있다.
