mid growing concerns over affective polarization, recent studies have highlighted the role of partisan media in intensifying this phenomenon. Existing research has primarily focused on partisan media and voters’ selective exposure to political information. However, the evolving media environment necessitates a broader perspective recognizing that voters are no longer passive recipients but active agents who access, select, disseminate, and interpret political information within new media ecosystems. This study examines both the direct effects of political information acquisition on affective polarization and the indirect effects mediated by voters' engagement within their political networks. The analysis reveals that legacy media usage is negatively associated with affective polarization, whereas new media usage shows a positive association. Furthermore, interactions within ideologically homogeneous networks, such as online communities, mediate the effect of new media consumption on hostility toward opposing parties. These findings suggest that changes in the media landscape contribute to the intensification of affective polarization, underscoring the importance of promoting information diversity and fostering cross-ideological communication.

최근 정서적 양극화가 민주주의의 건강성을 위협하는 주요 현상으로 주목받고 있으며, 특히 당파적 미디어와 유권자의 선택적 노출이 그 원인으로 지적되고 있다. 기존 연구들 은 주로 유권자의 정치정보 획득 행태에 집중해 왔지만, 디지털 미디어 환경의 변화 속에 서 유권자는 단순한 정보 수용자를 넘어 정치정보를 선택·배포·해석하는 능동적 주체로 변화하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 변화에 주목하여, 정치정보 획득이 정서적 양극화에 미 치는 직접적인 영향과, 유권자의 온라인 네트워크 교류, 특히 온라인 커뮤니티 이용이 매 개하는 간접효과를 함께 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 레거시 미디어를 통한 정보 획득은 정서 적 양극화와 부(-)의 상관관계를 가지는 반면, 뉴미디어를 통한 정보 획득은 정서적 양극 화와 정(+)의 관계를 보였다. 또한, 온라인 커뮤니티 이용은 뉴미디어 기반 정보 획득과 적대적 감정 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 미디어 이용 방식의 변화 가 정서적 양극화에 미치는 영향 경로를 실증적으로 제시함으로써, 정치정보의 균형성과 상호이념적 소통의 중요성을 시사한다.
