This study presents the K-Defense Sustainable Value Framework (K-Defense SVF), an extension of Hart and Milstein’s (2003) Sustainable Value Framework (SVF) tailored to the structural characteristics of the Korean defense industry. The K-Defense SVF reinterprets the model’s two axes—time (short-term to long-term) and market (internal to external)—from the perspective of a joint state–industry actor system, and consists of four strategic quadrants: (1) domestic demand–driven defense planning, (2) an open defense R&D ecosystem, (3) government-led defense exports, and (4) global defense cooperation networks. This framework provides an analytical structure for sustainable defense export strategies by integrating industrial efficiency, technological innovation, institutional credibility, and international cooperation while balancing national interests and corporate profit. In addition, by expanding the SVF from the firm level to the industrial and policy domains, this study offers a new perspective for systematically assessing the sustainability of the Korean defense industry. The proposed K-Defense SVF is expected to serve as a theoretical foundation for establishing sustainable growth strategies for Korea’s defense sector.

본 연구는 Hart & Milstein(2003)의 지속가능가치모형(Sustainable Value Framework, SVF)을 한국 방위산업 구조에 맞게 확장한 K-방산 지속가능가치모형(K-Defense SVF)을 제시한다. K-Defense SVF는 시간축(단기–장기)과 시장축(내부– 외부)을 국가–기업 통합 행위자 관점에서 재해석하고, (1) 내수창출형 국방기획, (2) 개방형 국방 R&D 생태계, (3) 정부주도 형 방산수출, (4) 글로벌 방산협력 네트워크 등 네 가지 전략축으로 구성된다. 이 모형은 국익과 기업이윤의 균형을 바탕으로 산업 효율성, 기술혁신, 제도적 신뢰, 국제협력을 통합한 지속가능한 방산수출 전략의 분석 틀을 제공한다. 또한 지속가능가 치모형(SVF)을 기업 단위에서 산업⋅정책 수준으로 확장하여 한국 방위산업의 지속가능성을 체계적으로 진단할 수 있는 새 로운 관점을 제시한다. 본 연구의 K-방산 지속가능가치모델(K-Defense SVF)은 향후 K-방산의 지속가능한 성장전략 수립 을 위한 이론적 기초가 될 것으로 기대된다.
