It defined the terminology definition of explosives and IEDs that have not been accurately addressed so far. In particular, explosives are all explosive parts, including gunpowder such as explosives, explosives, explosives and chemical products, and military explosives such as bombs and grenades. In other words, the academic definition was made to collectively refer to all explosive substances (including explosives, explosives, chemical products, hazardous materials, and military weapons) or devices linked to other mechanical and electronic devices. In addition, as a result of a manual analysis of the types of explosives used in explosives incidents in the past 10 years using AOAV's Explosive Violence Monitor data and Korean Googling, it is predicted that the types of future explosives terror will continue to be ① using daily necessities, easily manufactured homemade explosives (HMBs), which will spread the threat of explosives terrorism using advanced drones, and ③ terrorism using IEDs will increase along with the increase of camouflaged IEDs incorporating IED elements into electronic systems.

지금까지 정확하게 다루지 않았던 폭발물과 IED의 용어적 정의를 정의하였고 특 히 폭발물은 ‘화약, 폭약 및 화공품 등 화약류와 폭탄, 수류탄 등 군사용 폭발 물질 을 포함한 모든 폭발성 부분품. 즉 모든 폭발성 물질(화약, 폭약, 화공품, 위험물, 군 용 무기류 포함) 자체 또는 기타 기계, 전자적 장치와 연동된 장치를 총칭’하는 학술 적 정의를 하였다. 또한 최근 10년간 폭발물 사건에 사용된 폭발물의 종류를 AOAV의 Explosive Violence Monitor 자료와 한글 구글링으로 수작업으로 분석한 결과, 향후 폭발물 테 러의 유형은, ① 일상 생활용품 활용, 쉽게 제작 가능한 사제폭발물(HMB)의 지속될 것이며, ② 첨단화 되는 드론을 활용한 폭발물 테러 위협 확산되고, ③ 전자시스템 에 IED 요소를 일체화 시킨 위장형 급조폭발물(Concealed IED)의 증가와 더불어 ④ IID(Improvised Incendiary Device, 급조발화장치)를 활용한 테러가 증가될 것으로 예측하였다.
